Alison Gowan is a trained classical vocalist and multi-instrumentalist with over twenty years of performance, teaching, and facilitation experience. Alison has toured and recorded extensively with the Kingston-based folk music ensemble, Swamp Ward Orchestra in her role as a musician, composer, and arranger. She facilitates music and folk dance workshops for participants of all ages at festivals and in schools. She has collaborated with a number of theatre groups, and has acted in the role of musical director with productions sponsored by Theatre Kingston, Queen’s University Drama Department, CFRC, and Birdbone Puppet Theatre. Alison served as the director of the Kingston Kindermusik program for 15 years, and has developed music programs for Hotel Dieu’s Child Development Centre and Holy Cross Secondary School’s Bridges to Community program, facilitating accessible music and dance experiences with special needs children and youth. She has worked extensively as a visiting artist and story-teller in numerous schools across Canada.
