Kyoko Ogoda hails from Shizuoka, Japan. She started playing her major instrument the marimba at the age of 9.She attended the University of Toronto from 2003-2006 where she studied percussion. During her time in Toronto, Kyoko was also a member of the Japanese Taiko drumming group Nagata Shachu. Since moving to Kingston, Kyoko has performed in the community as a marimba and Taiko performer. She currently teaches Japanese taiko drumming and the students also performs in the community as Kings Don Taiko. She was involved with The Whole Shebang Kingston from the beginning which has become one of her life-turning events.
